I think I should mention that security policies in some organizations now require that you must be able to get updates for your software. This has some implications about what larger groups of Mac users—such as within enterprises—may be running for their OS.

With Mac OS X, there is no clear evidence—yet no documentation one way or another from Apple—that there will be updates to 10.3 or 10.2 after 10.5 is released. The evidence so far is that Apple will only provide software updates for 10.4 and 10.5 when 10.5 is released. We no longer see security updates for 10.2 now that 10.4 is out, and we only see updates for the current and immediately preceding major release.

Beyond that, I do think if Leopard provides developer candy, it provides the candy equally for Apple and external developers.
