Speculation: Apple may be about the Mac for now, but corporate rename is more significant than you allow. Long term, Apple will be about Mac OS X. If the iPhone line takes off, it (and iPod) will be the hardware revenue to mollify investors. They can get out of the computer business and license the OS to other manufacturers. Their $11 billion in cash on hand maybe a war-chest to tide them over during the transition.
