Comment on "Does Ruby on Rails Scale?"

I'm probably making an overly bold statement here, but five years from now, the majority of new web applications will be hosted somewhere out in the cloud from the get-go. We should all be working on how to make that transition, rather than bickering over which framework scales best.

Data centers are already taking on the physical (cooling towers! remote locations! national security!) and logistical characteristics that are typically associated with electric power stations -- computing power is becoming a commodity. Pretty soon, you will only be limited by how fat your pipe into the grid is. Scaling will mean someone halfway around the world plugging a standard shipping container full of equipment a handful of wall-outlets...
