Sounds like you might like aap.net web forms with Ajax and now silverlight. That is the unified programming model: high pert, feature rich, etc. Inevitably, with such a thing, you findthe output incompatible with your reqs. Rails is the opposite: a commitment to mvc where v is whatever web thing u need and c is in charge. You are suggesting bringing c and v together. That is not a step in the direction of quality. IMHO
