I've always leaned towards the BSDs myself, as that's what I first started on. I've run my share of Linux, but there were a couple of years there that I ran straight Darwin (I'm still looking at going back to it at some point). BSDs make sense if you're using Mac OS X a lot as it feels slightly more at-home.
