@Jeff Harrison: I'm sure there's something to it, but it sounds overreaching to say that there is never a speed advantage to using a keyboard over a mouse.

I'm guessing the tests reflect situations where you're selecting a single menu item. The other cases are clearly something much different, and I don't think that's in dispute.

In any case, the keyboard and mouse thing is beside the point. The only thing it's meant to highlight is that something which is objectively more efficient may not be what the user actually finds more pleasing.
