Agree with you on most of your UI points (too much going on!), though I do think the little overview square is excellent. (I also suspect the whole thing works better if you have the Flash 8 plug-in installed instead of Flash 7.) One note: you can minimize that little overview by clicking the tiny arrow on the left.
