Shadow of the Colossus

I just played through the Shadow of the Colossus demo disc, which took about 20 minutes. Without even checking, I can tell this is done by the folks that made Ico, one of my favorite games ever. The design in colussus is brilliant. An expansive, seamless landscape and enormous 20-story-tall beasts.

That said, I wish this game was on PS3. You can just feel that there's more that the creators wanted to do with this but can't because of the limitations of the hardware. It even affects gameplay -- the response to the controls during action is sluggish. Granted, it is a demo, so perhaps this is something that can be worked out for the final.

The game is gorgeous and, like Ico, it has a soul. The score is breathtaking. There's something beatiful about a game designed around ambiance and evoking emotions instead of movie tie-ins and shock value. All that said, I'm not sure I'll play it because I'd be too focused on how good it could be on new hardware, but maybe I'll play it anyway.  :)
