iPod nano in Person

I got a chance to briefly play with an iPod nano tonight. Very cool, the value is immediately obvious when you pick it up. I'd easily choose this over the previous mini model. Nice screen, feels good in the hands. Even more strikingly small than the Shuffle. Good stuff. Mmalc said all the black ones have sold out at Valley Fair.

I still think getting rid of the minis in favor of Nano was a mistake. I think people liked choice in color (girls love pink iPods), and now that option is no longer available.

Fair point, actually.

If "girls love[d] pink iPods" all that much, Apple would probably have felt obliged to produce a pink nano. Had the mini been left on the market against a dramatically thinner device with a color screen, it would have gotten killed, even with the nano's smaller capacity.

This could be a materials issue, too. Maybe the almuminum wouldn't work so well for the form factor.

I think I see what's going on now. Take a look at the "Tubes". Yes, that means they're nanotubes.
